I’ve read that when Gandhi died, all of his worldly
possessions could be counted on two hands: a pair of dinner bowls, a wooden
fork and spoon, his diary, a prayer book, a watch, a spittoon, a letter opener,
and a set of porcelain monkeys acting out the “see no evil/hear no evil/speak
no evil” motif. That’s it. He was one of the most influential men in the entire
world, but those were the only things he owned.
